Korero from the Principal:
Kia ora e te whanau. What a whirl wind this term has been so far. We have had a big event every single week and our teachers are starting to feel it. Pet Day was amazing in week 1. A huge thank you to the Pet Day committee Hayley Hathaway, Kylie Goddard, Tori Williams, and Andrea Muggeridge for their organisation skills. They are an amazing team! In week 2 we had our 100th Centennial Celebrations. A huge thank you to the organising committee: Megan Parker, Alan Wills, Tracey Weren, Shirley Donelley, Heather Vermeulen, Lesley Handcock, John Martelli, Diane Willemsen, Kate Bowron, Paula Crafer, Connie Karl for this momentous occasion too. This was another team of dedicated and passionate people who went over and above to deliver a stunning two days for our school and community. Finally, last week we had our first Grandparents day in over a decade. The turnout was incredible and the children had a lot of fun hanging out with their grandparents for the day. On Friday afternoon we surprised the teachers with some treats and an early finish (yes, we sent them home!). It was National Teacher Day and our teachers have been going very hard out lately with all of the extra events we have put onto them while still expecting them to educate us! They don’t complain and we think they are fabulous!!!
Now, we need to get back into some solid teaching and learning as we head with speed towards the end of the year. While these events are amazing and loads of fun, they do cut into our targeted teaching times. We are mindful that we need to continue to address our learners needs and make sure they are progressing as they should. For this reason, it would be very helpful for teachers if your child was at school everyday. We really appreciate those who consider school to be of upmost importance and understand that consistency is key for your child when their learning is at stake.
All the best for the rest of the term as we slide into the silly season!
Nga mihi,
Richelle

From the Board of Trustees:
A reminder that Reporoa Primary School opts in to the Donations Scheme. State and state-integrated schools with an EQI of 432 or higher can choose to receive a per student payment per year if they agree not to ask parents and caregivers for donations, except for overnight camps. Previously this scheme used the decile system, whereby schools with a decile of 1-7 were eligible.
This initiative is designed to alleviate pressure and expectations on households surrounding donation payments.
You can find out more information about what you will and will not be asked to pay for HERE.
