Rich talk grows children’s brains – Talking Matters
This is a wonderful video clip to share with whanau with new babies and preschoolers. Rich talk grows children’s brains and provides vocabulary to support early language acquisition to read, write, think and communicate. Click on the link and scroll down until you see this picture to view.
Uniform:
Thank you to those who voted for the uniform. The winning votes were the following designs shown modelled by Felix. This will now go to the BOT for further decisions to be made about expectations and timing.
BOT (Board of Trustees):
Ever wondered what the Board of Trustees is all about? What do they do? The Board of Trustees help to run our school. We are in charge of the overall governance, vision and direction of the school. The Board is made up of 5 parents, Mrs Engel, our staff rep and the Principal, Mrs McDonald. Our main duties are looking after student achievement, property, finance, policies and the Charter document and Annual Plan you can find on our website. We also help keep Mrs McDonald in line and make sure she’s doing a great job managing the school!
Aside from that, we are currently working on a Hautu review, which will tells us where we are with cultural inclusion in our school. Also, we are doing an internal review of Board practices and procedures, to make sure everything is ship- shape.
The Board is your voice and we work hard to provide quality education for all children at Reporoa Primary.
We would love to see more parents sitting in on our meetings and finding out more about what we do, everyone is welcome, don’t be shy! Anyone who is interested can also have a look the Board minutes on the wall at the office to see what we get up to. Check out this quick video about what a school Board is and does and about becoming a trustee http://Vimeo.com/120984849 or just ask one of our friendly Board members.

Pet Day:
IT’S COME TO THAT EXCITING TIME OF THE YEAR AGAIN….
REPOROA PRIMARY SCHOOL ANNUAL PET & FAMILY FUN DAY 2018
TIME TO GET YOUR PET’S PREPARED FOR
SUNDAY 14th OCTOBER 2018
9am – 1:00pm
Due to the current risk and uncertainty surrounding Mycoplasma bovis it has been confirmed that we will not have calf judging at this year’s Pet Day on October 14th. This is the current recommendation from MPI and DairyNZ and not only includes Calf Club Days but A&P shows also. Therefore, calves have been cancelled out for Group Day this year too.
The Pet Day Committee realise this news will come as a big disappointment to a lot of our families. We expect that a number of children may decide to take a lamb instead. For those children who need help finding a lamb to rear we have made the following arrangements with Landcorp’s Sheep Milking Farm. Newborn ram lambs will be available towards the end of August. The breed will be East Friesian X or Awassi X. For more details or to register your interest contact Kyle Brennan 3338664.
LAMBS & KIDS (GOATS) MUST BE BORN BETWEEN 25th July & 25th September.
Lamb/Kid rearing booklets are available to collect from the school office or ask your teacher if you would like one.
Domestic Pets can be of any age. Dogs must be small.
Postponement date is Tuesday 16th October.
Group Day Friday 19th October at Lake Rerewhakaaitu School.
