Nga mihi nui ki a koutou katoa – warm greetings to everyone
Welcome to week 11 of term 1. We are on the countdown to the holidays!
Reading over the holidays:
We all know how important it is for kids to read but what about raising kids who actually want to read on their own, or better yet, love to read?
Kids who love to read will gravitate towards books, spend time curled up on a couch with a favourite tale, and can’t take enough trips to the library.
A love of reading opens kids up to learning new ideas, helps them academically, and sets them up for a lifetime of critical thinking and empathy for others.
The following are tips to help you raise kids who get excited about reading:
Head Lice:
Visitors on school grounds:
Please note that anyone (including parents) that visit the school are to sign in at the office. We have a new digital sign in service. Maureen will be more than happy to show you how to use it.
Also, please remember that you MUST sign your child out at the office and give a reason if you are picking them up early.
Stars of the week:
Ka Rawe te mahi (awesome work) to Madison for learning how to use finger spaces in her writing and Malachi for some great vocabulary in his zombie apocalypse story!
Sports:
Congratulations to teams 4 and 5 in the Summer Sports cluster event last week for coming 2nd and 3rd at t-ball! It was a great day and I was very proud of the team spirt displayed at both the junior and senior events.
Congratulations to Mihi 12 the team with the highest points over 7 rounds (39).
Second with 37 points was Reporoa 5. Third place went to Reporoa 4 with 34 points
