Korero from the Principal:

Special Occasions:

It was wonderful to have the community engage with us at school for both the unveiling of the waharoa, our newcomers powhiri, and Linda’s memorial tree planting. We planted a lovely Te Toke evergreen. All were very special occasions and we certainly appreciate your support here at kura. I would like to thank Conrad and Wiremu for carving our special waharoa and sharing its meaning. Such a lot of mahi has gone into this for us. Also nga mihi nui to to Harry for blessing it. We are honoured to have such amazing connections with Ngāti Tahu Ngāti Whaoa through this process and will be learning more about the meaning behind the carvings in coming weeks.

Attendance:

An important reminder that every day at school is important. Taking days off for reasons other than being sick or attending important whanau events such as tangi, are not justified.

We work with the attendance service to follow up on any students who are of concern. This is the plan moving forward. If you have had a letter asking you to contact us and have a conversation about attendance, please do. We want to help you to eliminate the barriers for your child getting to school. The Pou Manaki team will pay a visit and offer assistance as well if we can’t manage to connect with you.

Nga mihi nui

Richelle
