What a week!
We hope that all of you are safe and well without too much damage around your property from cyclone Gabrielle. Looking at the devastation around the motu, our community got off very lightly! Please keep in touch if there are issues getting to school or if there is anything we can support you with. It has been nice to see and hear people helping others in need so that things get back to normal quickly.
Complaints Policy:
From time to time there may be issues that arise for you. In my experience, these issues usually occur through lack of communication, or misread communication. We ask that you PLEASE come and see us first and foremost. Please follow the procedure below until you get the result that you need.
How can parents help?
Posting your frustration on social media DOES NOT help your child.
Having a good complain at the school gate DOES NOT help your child.
Come in and have a conversation with us. We will listen and act. We always gather the facts from all sides of the story as often as a parent you will only get one perspective on the matter. If, after a while, the issue starts up again let us know and we will continue to deal with it again. These problems sometimes take a couple of times before children learn. Let us do our job by communicating clearly and in a timely manner with us.
Camps:
The Year 5&6 camp to Papamoa is coming up fast 20-23 March. Please keep an eye out for notices coming home. Parent applications close THIS FRIDAY! Make sure you have your police vet form and your application form in if you want to apply to come with us. The cost is $180. Payments can be made at any time PRIOR to camp.
The Year 3&4 camp has been postponed until term 4 so that Whaea Jenni can settle in to her new school and get to know the tamariki a bit first.
Stars of the week:
Ka rawe te mahi to Ruma Ono – A superstar class who were all engaged making taniwha and measuring their length with jellybeans.
Stationery:
Many of our students still do not have their stationery. This becomes problematic for them to begin their learning at school as they don’t have the correct tools to do so. Please get on to this immediately if your child does not have stationery for school.
